You don’t have to believe every thing you think
I know this is a total mind f*ck, but stick with me here.
Most of what we probably think in a day is some sort of limiting belief, or saboteur, trying to keep us safe.
When you're going after a big scary goal, you're going to have to go outside your comfort zone.
When you go outside your comfort zone, your saboteurs will pop up EVERYWHERE.
Your saboteurs will tell you all the ways it could go wrong, all the ways to over-prepare for it, and all the things you should be focused on instead of yourself.
Kinda sad, right?
By making the simple first step of awareness, you're able to begin to break up that cycle of self-sabotage.
What do your saboteurs sound like in your head?
Mine is the classic perfectionist: telling me a million different things to do to over-prepare for something as a way of showing up as robot Brittany saying all the "right things" instead of authentic, human, warm, loving Brittany.
What's even better is knowing that how you self-sabotage in one area of your life is likely how you do it in every area of your life.
Think about it... are you a procrastinator?
How do you procrastinate at work?
How do you put off things, conversations, events in your relationships?
How do you wait until the last minute to deal with your finances?
Not a procrastinator? Other well-known saboteurs include the people-pleasers and the perfectionists. Replace the above examples with pleasing other and over-achieving scenarios at work, relationships, and finances to see what it brings up for you.
Whatever your flavor of saboteur, I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to rule your life anymore.
There are lots of ways to disrupt it and shift your mindset to come from an empowering place instead.
Sure we can all get things done while procrastinating, people-pleasing, and perfecting - but is it really how we want it to go?
